Runway Paper / Submissions
Pitch Us
We publish writers and photographers who see something the front row missed. If that's you, we want the pitch.
What we publish
Articles — reported features, profiles, and sharp cultural criticism, usually 800–1,500 words. We care about fashion as work: the people who make it, the money behind it, the culture around it. Hot takes without reporting underneath don't survive the edit.
Photo essays — 10–20 frames with a point of view. Backstage, street, studio, process. We run them big, with full photo credit on every frame.
What a good pitch looks like
Three or four sentences: the story, why you, why now. Link past work if you have it — don't worry if you don't. For photo essays, attach a small selection or a link to a contact sheet; never send full-res files unsolicited.
Pitch the story, not the topic. "Sustainability in fashion" is a topic. "The tailor who re-cuts last season's samples for three downtown labels" is a story.
How to send it
Email pitch@runwaypapermagazine.com with the subject line PITCH: followed by your working title. One pitch per email.
The fine print
We respond to everything we're pursuing within two weeks — if you haven't heard back by then, consider it a pass and take it elsewhere with our blessing. Rates are agreed per commission, in writing, before you start. We only accept work you have the rights to, and we don't publish undisclosed AI-generated writing or images.
