Hodakova
Ellen Hodakova Larsson founded Hodakova in Stockholm in 2021, naming it for her grandmother’s maiden name, and won the 2024 LVMH Prize for a fully upcycled model. The label works exclusively with existing garments, surplus stock, and discarded everyday objects — spoons, belts, riding boots — reassembled into sculptural ready-to-wear, with Larsson as founder and creative director.
Profile
HodakovaLarsson grew up in rural Sweden in an equestrian family, and the stable is all over the work: riding boots split into bodices, saddlery hardware, leather tack reborn as eveningwear. Trained at the Swedish School of Textiles, she treats sourcing as the creative act itself — collections begin with what already exists, in quantity, and the design problem is what a hundred identical belts or a crate of tailored trousers can become.
The LVMH Prize win put institutional weight behind a thesis the industry had long treated as marginal: that upcycling can run at the level of a serious Paris house, not a side project. Red-carpet moments built on reassembled objects have since made Hodakova one of the most-watched young labels on the calendar, and proof that circular fashion and high fashion can be the same thing.
