Thierry Mugler founded his house in 1974 and turned Paris runways into theater — power shoulders, corsetry, and sci-fi glamour that still define the brand’s DNA. Miguel Castro Freitas, whose career spans Dior, Dries Van Noten, and Sportmax, was named creative director in 2025, succeeding Casey Cadwallader as steward of the house’s sculpted body-conscious codes.

MuglerMugler’s 1980s and 1990s shows were spectacles without rival — motorcycle bustiers, insect women, robotic couture — staged for thousands of spectators when fashion shows were still trade events. His 1992 fragrance Angel rewrote the perfume industry, and his imagery shaped pop performance from George Michael videos to the stage wardrobes of a later generation of superstars who revived his archive on red carpets.
After the founder’s death in 2022, Cadwallader’s tenure translated the corsetry and carved silhouettes into a digital-era body language of catsuits and spiral seams. Castro Freitas now inherits one of fashion’s most potent archives, tasked with proving that glamour this theatrical can live on a modern ready-to-wear rail.
