Nishizaki spent more than a decade inside the Yamamoto system, and Ujoh reads as that education made personal: trousers that wrap and split, jackets with displaced seams, and slits engineered so the garment moves like a hinge rather than a drape. The palette stays disciplined — blacks, khakis, off-whites — so the cutting does the talking.

The label built its audience through Tokyo’s fashion week before graduating to Paris, part of the steady pipeline of Japanese patternmaking talent the French calendar has absorbed since the 1980s. Ujoh’s shows are quiet by Paris standards, and deliberately so — clothes for people who read construction the way others read logos.
