Carven
Founded in Paris in 1945 by Marie-Louise Carven, who designed for women of petite stature with a distinctly French, wearable elegance, the house has been in revival since 2023 under owner Icicle. Kai Nesselrath — formerly womenswear head designer at Saint Laurent — was named design director in June 2026, and this Paris Fashion Week show marks his debut collection for the house.

CarvenMadame Carven built her house on a personal grievance turned philosophy: couture ignored small women, so she cut for them — fresh, young, green-and-white striped Parisian clothes, plus the perfume Ma Griffe, one of the postwar era’s defining scents. The house dressed a generation of women that grand couture overlooked.
After decades of changing hands and a 2018 bankruptcy, Chinese luxury group Icicle acquired Carven and has rebuilt it patiently around quiet, fabric-first elegance. Nesselrath arrives from the Saint Laurent studio with a mandate to give the revival a sharper Parisian line — and his debut this week is one of the season’s genuine unknowns.
